A ULKA pump uses high amounts of pressure to extract the crema from your coffee granules (crema is the froth on top of your coffee). This particular ULKA pump is 15 bar, which means it uses the maximum amount of pressure found in a standard espresso machine, for a quick and flavourful extraction. Any more than 15 bars may result in burnt coffee powder and a burnt-tasting coffee.
ESE stands for Easy Serve Espresso pods and these are similar to tea bags, only they are filled with coffee powder and can only be used in espresso machines. They are ideal for people who do not want to grind fresh coffee and measure it out and instead want a quick but still good-quality coffee.
