If you juice often then you will know there is a fair amount of juice pulp leftover, but thinking of new ideas of what to do with it can be tricky. You can do quite a few recipes with juice pulp as the fibrous waste is still packed with nutrients. In this blog post we will give you a couple of ideas to save your juice pulp ending up in the bin.

Energy Balls

If you are looking for a healthy snack thats going to boost your energy, then energy balls are a great option for those who just want to grab something quick and easy. Energy balls are made out of protein, good carbohydrates, healthy fats and are high in fibre. Juice pulp adds a little extra to your energy balls and we love using carrot, apple and ginger pulp to make things a bit more interesting.


  • 150g carrot, apple and ginger juice pulp
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 50g dried fruit of your choice
  • 100g pitted dates
  • 40g dried coconut
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • shredded coconut to garnish
  1. Put everything apart from the shredded coconut to garnish into a blender, this will combine all ingredients quickly.
  2. Scoop your mixture out and roll in to desired ball size.
  3. Roll in shredded coconut and store in freezer until ready to consume.


This recipe is perfect for breakfast or a quick nutritious snack and contains half the sugar you would usually find in store bought granola. You can store this homemade version for around 2 weeks.


  • 250g rolled oats
  • 50g shredded coconut
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 100g of different types of nuts you like e.g almonds, pecans, walnuts or cashews or you can add dried fruit
  • 50ml cold water
  • 50ml strawberry and apple juice (save the pulp)
  • All the pulp from above
  • 2 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • Add 1 handful of blueberries
  • Add 1 handful of strawberries thinly sliced
  1. Add all ingredients apart from blueberries, strawberries and pulp.
  2. Stir together until everything has combined
  3. Add in the juice pulp and stir
  4. And blueberries and strawberries
  5. Spread mixture thinly onto baking tray
  6. Bake at 200 degrees for 2 hours turning granola every half an hour

Vegetable Broth

Vegetable broth is great to adding to dishes as it gives a much fuller flavour, vegetable juice pulp is great for making delicious veggie broth.


  • 500g of vegetable pulp
  • 230ml water
  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 2 stalks of celery chopped
  • Salt and pepper to season
  1. Bring all ingredients to the boil and then simmer for 2 hours.
  2. Strain the broth and decant into airtight containers ready to freeze.

Fruit Leathers

Another great snack for kids or adults are fruit leathers, deliciously chewy and sweet, you won’t be able to stop snacking on these.


  • If you just want to make your leathers out of fruit pulp, you can just spread your pulp onto baking paper and add any additional spices. Then bake at 100˚C for around 3 hours.
  • If you want something a little more exciting then blend up your favourite fruits and vegetables and add:
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp cinnamon powder
  1. Then spread your fruit leathers out onto baking paper. Cook on low for around 2 - 3 hours. This will give you seriously fruity leathers that your family will love.


Homemade soups are a great way to get your veggies in easily as you can create delicious wholesome soup in a matter of hours. Our favourite soup to make with added pulp, is spicy tomato. The pulp gives the soup a great texture and is perfect for lunches or dinners.


  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 1/2 onion chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 small red chilli
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon of ground coriander
  • 800g of crushed tomatoes
  • 500ml of chicken stock
  • A dash of Worcestershire sauce
  • 170g of vegetable pulp
  1. Cook onions, chillies, garlic and tomato paste until everything is soft.
  2. Add the tomatoes and stock and bring to the boil.
  3. Simmer the soup for around 25 minutes.
  4. Take the soup and add to a blender.
  5. Blend until smooth.
  6. Add your pulp and blend again until the texture is to your liking.

Dog Treats

This is a great way to use all that juice pulp up in one big batch, however we do advice checking what your dog can and can’t eat before proceeding with this recipe. Making your own dog treats will save you a bit of money and these treats are a much more healthier for your pooch.


  • 500g pulp
  • 340g sunflower seeds
  • 150g ground flax
  • 60g of peanut butter
  1. Mix all ingredients together
  2. Place on baking paper
  3. Cook for 1 hour at 100˚C


If your still not a fan of juice pulp, then you can still use it in your garden to help your compost become rich in nutrients. Your flowers will thank you later.
