This premium Excalibur digital dehydrator allows you to program two different drying phases with different timers and temperatures for added versatility. Food safety is important, and that is why a two-phase drying system is great, a hotter first phase can eliminate any surface pathogens without destroying nutrition and a cooler second phase ensures maximum taste is retained for the rest of the drying process.
The Excalibur 6 tray performance digital dehydrator uses small fluctuations of temperature to efficiently remove water and moisture from food without harming nutrients with a continuous circulation of thermostatically-controlled warm air for even drying and consistent results without any tray rotation.
Simply set the temperature between a range of 85°F and 165°F for up to 80 hours. Additionally, the control panel features a progress bar that provides a visual representation of the drying process and the unit will automatically shut off once drying is complete. You can monitor progress through the convenient top viewing window without disrupting the internal environment. When drying is complete, simply slide the hideaway door under the unit for easy access to your healthy, great-tasting dehydrated foods.
I bought this after doing a little research. I know Excalibur have a good name. There are some good reviews on youtube. It's 600w so powerful enough for my needs. I worked out it costs about 14p per hour to run. Wanted it mainly for meat jerkies. The glass top is a useful feature, so is the pull-down door which slides under out of the way. The biggest selling point are the stainless steel trays - find them easy to clean and work well with releasing the food when placed directly on them. The heat transference seems to work much better than I believe the plastic trays do. Have run 2 batches of jerky so far and very pleased.
